Frequently Asked Questions

FAQ

Find answers to common questions about Community Safety Lab, how to report scams, and how our verification process works.

Community Safety Lab is a public platform for reporting, reviewing, and sharing information about scams, fraud, phishing, and impersonation. Our goal is to help protect communities by making verified scam information publicly available.

We are not a law enforcement agency and do not determine guilt. We provide information for awareness and prevention purposes only.

You can report a scam directly on our homepage. Fill out the report form with:

  • A summary of what happened
  • Your email address (to receive your case number)
  • Any indicators such as phone numbers, emails, URLs, usernames, or crypto wallets
  • Optional: Screenshots, PDFs, or other evidence

After submission, you'll receive a case number via email that you can use to check your case status.

Review times vary depending on the complexity of the report and current volume. Most reports are reviewed within a few days, but some may take longer if additional verification is needed.

You can check your case status at any time using your case number. Learn more about how our moderation process works.

After submission, your report enters our review queue. Our moderation team will:

  • Verify the information provided
  • Cross-reference with known scam patterns
  • Evaluate the evidence quality
  • Determine if the report meets publication criteria

For detailed information, see How Moderation Works.

When you submit a report, you receive a unique case number via email. Use this case number on our Case Status page to check the current status of your report.

Status options include: Pending, Under Review, Verified, Rejected, and Archived.

We require an email address to send you your case number and any updates. However, your email is never published or shared publicly. Your identity remains confidential in all published reports.

If you believe you have been wrongly identified or that a report contains errors, you may contact us for review. We take accuracy seriously and will investigate legitimate concerns.

Please note that indicators (like phone numbers or emails) can be spoofed or compromised. Inclusion in a report does not constitute an accusation. See our Disclaimer for more information.
